I missed an answer: what do I do now?
Practise moving on from a gap you missed, so you don't lose the next answers.

The key idea
In a listening test, if you miss an answer, going back and thinking about it for a long time can make you miss the next answer too. Put a quick mark by it and look at what the next question asks for.
In a practice exercise, though, come back to that part at the end: was the word unfamiliar, could you not separate connected speech, or were you still stuck on the previous question?
In IELTS the audio plays once. In the exercise here, the purpose of listening again is not to memorise the answer but to recognise the phrase you missed.
See an example
Example: The answers ask for a day, a price and a place, in that order. If you missed the price, look straight at the place question.
When you hear The venue is… in the audio, don't keep thinking about the price. This is already the start of the next piece of information. After the exercise, listen to the price part separately and note why you missed it.
Now you try
Listening practice
Computer narration for practice. Listen first, then open the transcript.
Listen to the audio once. Write ONE WORD AND/OR A NUMBER in each gap.
- Day: ___
- Fee: £___
- Room: ___
If you miss an answer, leave it empty and move on to the next one. At the end, in the second listening, check only the part you missed.
A personal draft. It is not saved when you leave or automatically graded.

Write down which answer you missed on the first listening and what you heard differently the second time. “I didn't recognise Saturday” and “I missed the room while thinking about the price” call for different kinds of practice. For the room, a plain 12 is enough instead of room 12.
