How do I check my own speaking?
Use a recording of yourself to improve one specific skill.

The key idea
Record a short answer on your phone and listen to the content once: is there an answer to the question, is the reason clear, is the same idea repeated? On the second listening, choose only one language problem.
For example, if the tenses got mixed up in a past event, correct those two sentences. Then tell the whole answer again. Don't treat reading from a text and giving a free answer as the same practice.
This self-check does not give an official IELTS score; it helps you find the target of your next practice.

Question: What do you enjoy about your studies?
First answer: I like it because it is interesting. The subjects are interesting and I am interested in them.
Second try: I enjoy the practical projects most. Last week, we built a simple website, and I liked seeing our idea turn into something we could use.
The second answer replaces the repetition with a concrete example.
Now you try
Answer the question “Tell me about something you learned recently” with a voice recording.
After listening, note down:
- Which was my clearest sentence?
- Where was the idea repeated or confused?
- What one thing will I change when I speak again?
A personal draft. It is not saved when you leave or automatically graded.

Example target: I repeated the word “useful” three times. In the next answer I will say where I use the skill.
This is more concrete than the thought “I must speak better”. Answer the same question once more and see whether the change you chose has happened. Don't try to correct all the mistakes every time; listen for one clear improvement.
